Katsia Paulavets is the Strategic Advisor for the SDSN SDG Transformation Center. She has over fifteen years of professional experience in advancing science for sustainable development, working in international organizations, an UN agency, and research institutions. She joins the SDSN from the International Science Council where she led various initiatives focused on increasing the impact of science for the SDGs, promoting systems change within science systems and funding, creating enabling environment for mission-oriented transdisciplinary science, fostering international collaboration and evidence-based policy. Some notable examples include the Global Commission on Science Missions for Sustainability, Leading Integrated Research for Agenda 2030 in Africa, and the Global Forum of Funders. Katsia also contributed to the creation of Future Earth, the global research programme on sustainability, and the International Network for Governmental Science Advice.
Katsia holds Masters and Bachelor Degrees in environmental engineering and science, policy and management, and environmental impact assessment from Lund University and the Belarusian National Technical University.
