Celebrating Youth-led Climate Solutions at the #YouthLead Innovation Festival
In celebration of the International Youth Day, SDSN Youth, the official youth initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), is participating in the UN Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth's first #YouthLead Innovation Festival as a partner for the Festival's Spotlight Sessions, a virtual event on the sidelines of the official program.
As the focus of the Festival is to highlight the role of young solutions makers and innovators, SDSN Youth is hosting a Spotlight Session titled "Youth for Climate Solutions: Elevating the voices and solutions of young people to protect the future of our planet" on August 11, 9:30am (ET) ahead of the Festival, to showcase young innovators who are already making a positive change for the climate, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities for young people who want to solve the climate crisis.
Panelists include Julia Blocher, President of the International Youth Federationand Brighton Kaoma, Global Director of SDSN Youth, both of whom have extensive experience working with youth empowerment, sustainable development, and climate research.
Two youth innovators featured in SDSN Youth's Youth Solutions Report 2020, Xiomara Acevedo Navarro, Founder of Barranquilla +20, a non-profit based in Colombia, and Chiyanika Nakasamu, Founder of Project Pollen, a for-profit from Zambia, are also joining us at the panel to share first-hand experience of developing innovative climate solutions on the ground.
