Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP) Consortium Meeting
The SDSN and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) jointly hosted a consortium meeting of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP) on January 26-28, 2015 in Paris, France. The workshop brought together participants from each of the 16 country teams that are currently represented in the DDPP, namely: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, the UK, and the USA. Representatives from other partner organizations of the DDPP, such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) also participated in the event.
The objective of the meeting was for the teams to have an opportunity to discuss approaches and methodologies as well as share insights and results from their most recent round of national scenario analyses. The group also engaged in a strategic discussion on how to chart a way forward for the project, notably by coordinating on the 2015 deliverables, which will include the publication of 14 country reports by the summer and of an updated global synthesis report by early fall. The meeting also covered the organization of several outreach events both at the national and global level to disseminate the project’s technical results and rally policymakers, businesses, investors, academia and civil society around the idea of deep decarbonization.
