Global Schools and Siemens Energy Launch Guide on Greening STEAM Education

Schools for Goal 7: A Guide on Greening STEAM Education

The Greening STEAM Education Guide is part of the “Schools for Goal 7” initiative, a project by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s (SDSN) Global Schools Program in partnership with Siemens Energy, which trains teachers and students on renewable energy and the energy transition through gamified curricula.

The Greening STEAM Education guide provides introductory information on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) and related pedagogical approaches. It also offers primary and secondary educators a series of 18 lesson plans and activities that they can use in their classrooms. These activities span a range of disciplines and address sustainable development topics such as protecting ocean ecosystems, combating deforestation, curbing plastic waste, and more.

The guide is structured into four parts:

  • Part 1: STEAM and the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Part 2: Integrating SDGs into STEAM-based activities
  • Part 3: Classroom Activities
  • Part 4: Additional Resources
