IMF Post-Pandemic Assessment builds on SDG Index
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) published A Post-Pandemic Assessment of the Sustainable Development Goals on April 29, 2020. The staff discussion note assesses the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing on the findings of the Sustainable Development Report 2020 as well as on other resources and reports.
The IMF staff discussion note finds that the pandemic has severly impacted countries’ development agendas, increasing levels of extreme poverty, and limiting the financial resources that governments have available to pursue the goals. According to the note, “extraordinary efforts from all stakeholders” will be required to meet the SDGs and the Agenda 2030.
