SDSN Contributions to High-Level Political Forum
SDSN participated in several sessions, side events and teaching workshops throughout the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the Annual Ministerial Review under the auspices of UN Economic and Social Council, June 26 – July 10, 2015.
Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of SDSN, spoke after the launch of the MDG (2015) Report by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations. He also gave a keynote talk during the opening of the Annual Ministerial Review segment of the Economic and Social Council, “From MDGs to SDGs”.
Professor Patrick Paul Walsh, SDSN, was a panelist at an event that addressed “How science can inform the science-policy interface.” After the launch of the 2015 Global Sustainable Development Report (2015), he also moderated the a session on “The Global Sustainable Development Report as a bridge between the SDGs and scientific communities”.
SDSN and SDSN Youthwhere involved in two side events, “GSDR(2015) Highlights and Way Forward” organized by the UN Division for Sustainable Development/UNDESA and “Realizing the SDGs by 2030: Crucial Entry Points for Communicating the SDGs and Climate Change for Transformative Citizen Engagement” organized by the Earth Child Institute and Pathways to Peace.
SDSN ran two HLPF SD-Learning courses entitled “Economics of sustainable development through the practicality of partnerships” and “Getting started with the SDGs: Charting a course for implementations.”
Finally, the Annual Ministerial Review was informed by an e-discussion on the 2015 ECOSOC Theme “Managing the transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the sustainable development goals: What it will take” undertaken in collaboration with UNDP and SDSN.
