SDSN Cyprus Welcomes New Co-Chair and Honours Professor Jeffrey Sachs
The Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s Cypriot Network (SDSN Cyprus) coordinates 10 member institutions around practical solutions to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hosted by the Cyprus Research and Educational Foundation (CREF), SDSN Cyprus coordinates with relevant government bodies to mainstream the SDGs into policies and strategic documents, and to raise awareness on climate challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East region.
Natassa Frederickou Appointed as New Co-Chair
SDSN Cyprus recently welcomed Natassa Frederickou as the new Network Co-Chair. Frederickou is the President of the Frederick University Council and a passionate advocate for social justice and gender equality. She serves on the Advisory Committee on the Prevention and Combating of Domestic Violence, and has been a member of the SDSN Cyprus Leadership Council since its inception. Her extensive experience and leadership are expected to guide the network toward continued growth and innovation.
Jeffrey Sachs Awarded with an Honorary Doctorate
On Friday, May 2, 2025, at 7:00 PM (EEST), Frederick University will award Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the SDSN, with an Honorary Doctorate. The ceremony will take place in Nicosia, Cyprus, in recognition of Professor Sachs’ outstanding contributions to sustainable development and his influential work addressing global challenges. The ceremony will conclude with a keynote speech by Professor Sachs titled “Achieving Sustainable Development in our Age of Instability”.
