SDSN Meets with Ambassador Geng Shuang of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs

On March 23, 2026, Professor Jeffery Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), met with Ambassador Geng Shuang, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), in Beijing. Dr. Sonia Sachs (Research Scholar, Columbia University), Guillaume Lafortune (Vice President, SDSN), and Philo Wang (Head of Policy and Research for Asia and SIDS, SDSN) also brought their expertise and unique perspectives to the meeting.

Discussions focused on global governance, as well as current international and regional developments. The participants also exchanged views on shared global challenges and areas of mutual interest, including sustainable development priorities.

The meeting provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue and highlighted the importance of continued international cooperation in addressing shared challenges. The SDSN continues to engage with partners and institutions worldwide to advance practical solutions and foster policy dialogue on sustainable development.

The Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), established in 1949, is the first institution in the People’s Republic of China focused on people-to-people diplomacy. CPIFA ​​takes the initiative to establish and maintain relations with prestigious political and social activists, parliaments, think tanks, and media from across the world, engaging in dialogue and communication on major international and regional issues, to pursue world peace, development, and cooperation.
