SDSN Southeast Asia Empowers the Next Generation of Youth Leaders in Indonesia
From December 2–6, 2025, SDSN Southeast Asia and the United in Diversity (UID) Foundation hosted the Youth Action Forum (YAF) 5.0 Foundation Workshop at the UID Bali Campus in Indonesia. Bringing together 50 selected participants from diverse provinces and sectors across the region, the workshop convened young leaders to deepen their self-awareness, strengthen leadership capacities, and foster a more holistic understanding of systems.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in intensive reflective processes through mindfulness practices, awareness-based systems change materials, and dialogue with external speakers from Bali-based organizations. These experiences helped broaden their perspectives and strengthen their presence as young leaders.
The workshop also provided space for them to showcase their ongoing work leading initiatives across their respective regions and exchange insights. Participants’ learning experience was further enriched through site visits to local communities and organizations in Bali working in waste management, permaculture, eco-tourism, and natural disaster education, allowing them to observe systemic realities firsthand.
With the conclusion of the Foundation Workshop, participants are now preparing to enter the Action Lab phase (January–February 2026). During this phase, they will engage in sensemaking and prototyping while developing tangible solutions within their respective communities before moving on to graduation and an exhibition in March 2026.
