Spanish SDSN Network (REDS) Launches in Madrid
The Spanish SDSN (Red Española para el Desarrollo Sostenible – REDS) launched on January 13, 2015, in Madrid, Spain. Former Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Teresa Ribera, Director of Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), and Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the SDSN and Earth Institute, led the public presentation of the Spanish network. This launch event was attended by Former Prime Minister Zapatero and leaders from academic, policy, and business. The network will focus its attention on three priorities for Spain: gender, energy, and water.
The network has already established a Leadership Council that will be expanding in the coming months. This group met after the presentation to discuss the next steps and some concrete initiatives to be pursued in 2015. The event presentation can be viewed here.
