On May 16, 2025, the 3rd SDSN Kazakhstan Conference was held at SDU University, under the theme, “Partnership and Cooperation in Building Sustainability and Sustainable Development.” The primary goal of the conference was to strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration between academia, government agencies, international organizations, and civil society in advancing the SDGs. The event provided a regional platform to discuss critical global and regional challenges and to explore practical pathways for SDG implementation in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Key topics discussed included: SDG implementation strategies and global partnerships; education and technology for sustainable development; digital finance, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable communities; and policy, governance, and long-term development strategies.

The SDSN Center at Nazarbayev University works on the SDG Nexus Network Project in collaboration with the Centre for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) Justus Liebig University (Giessen, Germany). This five-year project is dedicated to investigating complex interactions between the SDGs and their implications for sustainable development pathways. The SDGnexus Network, consisting of partners from Germany, Colombia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, will examine the relationships between individual SDGs, as well promote and connect the next generation of researchers.
