national Network
Region: Europe

SDSN United Kingdom, hosted by the University College London and established in 2022, mobilizes its members in the United Kingdom and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs. Key focus areas and activities include raising awareness on the SDGs through policy engagement activities and conferences, such as the Going Green Conference; providing expertise to public and private sectors on SDG-related projects; actively contributing to policy debates regarding the implementation of the SDGs in the UK’s political agenda; and conducting shared research on assessing the UK performance in relation to achieving the SDGs via projects such as the ‘SDG data gaps in the UK’ project and the Measuring Up 2.0 Report.

Collaborative Research Project Seeks to Improve SDG Data Practices

SDSN UK was successful in a small grant application for the ‘SDG data gaps in the UK’ project, a joint impact-oriented research project with Newcastle University, enriched through the collaboration with the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which aims to propose solutions and recommendations for improvement to current SDG data practices. Upcoming project outputs include a research paper written in collaboration with practitioners from the ONS and a policy brief.

It brought together researchers - both established and early career - policy makers and industry professionals with the aim to mobilize collective knowledge and experience to identify the most pressing, cross-sector research questions surrounding a net-zero future.
