SDSN Bulgaria, hosted by the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), and established in 2023, mobilizes its members in Bulgaria and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs. Key focus areas include encouraging the operation and success of the SDGs at the national and local level through the development of the leading SDG platform in Bulgaria for students, researchers, civil society, and governmental institutions, empowering every member and partner to contribute to a sustainable future and make a meaningful impact on society.

SDSN Bulgaria Organizes Annual Conference on Sustainable Development

The network's host institution organizes an international conference annually to discuss the status of the SDGs in the country and the region. SDSN Bulgaria acts as a platform to convene academic and government institutions, as well as those from the youth and NGO sectors related to the SDGs.

SDSN Bulgaria Provides Inputs on National SDG Survey

SDSN Bulgaria provided valuable inputs to the annual survey on SDG Policy Coordination (Government Efforts on the SDGs) as part of the Bulgarian government's emphasis on promoting the SDGs. The results were disseminated through different channels to raise more awareness about the need for more coordinated activities at the national level to achieve the SDGs.

Photovoltaic Installations Produce Over Half of Host Institution's Energy

As part of its efforts on climate action and commitment to the SDGs, SDSN Bulgaria's host institution constructed two photovoltaic installations that will produce more than 50% of the campus' energy consumption, saving 630 tons of CO2 emissions yearly. Simultaneously, the ‘Smart Lighting for Power Saving’ and ‘Smart Home’ projects are being implemented to contribute to a sustainable green environment through energy efficiency and power and cost savings.
