Ireland

national Network
Region: Europe

SDSN Ireland is a collaborative all-island network established in 2023.The network leverages member strengths and builds partnerships to accelerate implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at local, national, and regional scales.

Members are organized into two dynamic working groups, initially focused on the research–policy interface, and on the arts, humanities, and sustainability, with emerging interests in campus net zero, engaged universities, and education for sustainable development. Key focus areas within the working groups include sharing best practices, localizing the SDGs, engaging with high-level stakeholders, and raising awareness of the SDGs through existing initiatives.

Partnerships with government departments include collaboration on Ireland’s Voluntary National Review (VNR), as well as partnerships with local authorities aimed at co-developing and co-creating solutions for the SDGs with a strong North–South focus.

SDSN Ireland members have also assisted with and presented at several of the Government of Ireland’s key events, such as the National SDG Stakeholder Fora, the All Island Local Authority Forum, and the All-Island SDG Symposium, as well as engaged in major international fora including the UNFCCC COPs.
